Itinerary & Rates
Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel where you will be quickly briefed on the journey ahead. Overnight at the Norfolk Hotel on bed and breakfast basis.
Day 2: Nairobi to Samburu Game Reserve
After an early breakfast, drive north of Nairobi up the Great Rift Valley to the Samburu/Buffalo Springs National Reserve arriving in time for a late lunch at the Ashnil Samburu Camp which features 24 tents. The tents are widely spaced along the banks of the Uwaso Nyiro River, surrounded by doum palms and acacia trees. The main guest area, also shaded by a canopy of acacia trees, offers a comfortable reception and lounge, a spacious dining room, atmospheric bar and a broad deck, which offers unparalleled game-viewing across the wide reaches of the Uwaso Nyiro River, which is the lifeblood of this otherwise arid northern region. Day 3: On safari in Samburu
Enjoy a full day on safari in Samburu on morning and afternoon game drives. A place of endless skies, dust-red plains and palm-fringed rivers, Samburu National Reserve lies on the fringes of the vast and arid desert once known as the Northern Frontier District. Physically dramatic, the 104 sq km landscape of the Reserve features rocky battlements, craggy scarps, dry river beds and fallen boulders rising out of the thorn scrub against a backdrop of the far-distant hills and the great red table mountain known as Ololokwe. In the evening, there is an option of sundowners before dinner in the central dining room. Overnight at Ashnil Camp on full board basis.
Day 4: Mt Kenya/Sweetwaters
After breakfast, continue your safari toward Mt Kenya and its foothills to reach Sweetwaters Tented Camp where you have lunch. A sheltered oasis, clustered around a water hole and set in the pristine calm of the private Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Sweetwaters offers a charming blend of under-canvas ambiance and safari luxury. Located on the plains of Mount Kenya, the camp features thirty-nine luxury tents, each with its own private veranda overlooking the water hole. The central Rhino Restaurant, housed in the former manager’s house of this once colonial farm offers both regional and international cuisine. Also within the house is the Kashoggi Bar and lounge, which centers on a blazing log fire. The Waterhole Bar, built in the style of a game-viewing hide, overlooks the waterhole and offers unrivalled wildlife-watching. Overnight at Sweetwaters Camp on full board basis.
Day 5: Lake Naivasha
After breakfast, drive south to Lake Naivasha in time for lunch at the charmingly located Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge . The lodge stands in 120 acres of lakeside land, most of which is covered in green riparian meadows, which sweep down to the shores of the lake, one of the most beautiful in the Great Rift Valley. A jetty has been built out onto the lake, from where guests can watch the antics of the hippos in the lake and experience 360 degree views, which include Crescent Island, Mount Longonot, the Mau Escarpment and the misty outline of the Aberdares. The grounds are alive with a colorful selection of birds, and the trees with monkeys. Enjoy an afternoon walk on Crescent Island. Overnight at Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge on full board basis.
Days 6 & 7: Masai Mara Game Reserve
On Day 6 after breakfast, continue up the floor of Rift to arrive in the famous Masai Mara National Reserve , and at the Ashnil Mara Camp in time for a late lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy your first game-drive in the Mara. Spend Day 7 on morning an afternoon game drives. World renowned for the breathtaking spectacle of ‘the greatest wildlife show on earth’ , the awe inspiring annual migration of the wildebeest, the Mara is Kenya’s most visited protected area. Technically an extension of Tanzania’s renowned Serengeti National Park, the Mara constitutes only 4% of the entire Serengeti ecosystem but its rolling grasslands, meandering rivers and towering escarpments offer one of the world’s most rewarding and evocative wildlife arenas. Overnights at Ashnil Mara Camp on full board basis.
Day 8: Serengeti National Park
After breakfast transfer to Ol Kiombo airstrip in Masai Mara for a scheduled Kenya Airways flight to Serengeti Seronera airstrip via Migore and Tarime airstrips for border formalities. Arrive around 11:05 am after a 90 mns trip. You are met by your driver/guide in time for lunch to the Serengeti Serena Lodge. After a rest period, embark on an afternoon game viewing drive. Overnight at the Serengeti Serena Lodge on full board basis.
Day 9: Serengeti National Park
Spend a full day on safari tracking game through the inspiring landscapes of the Serengeti. Return to the lodge for lunch. Witness the immensity of the park and the amazing numbers of hoofed animals (zebra, wildebeest, antelopes…) as well as predators it shelters during another exciting afternoon game viewing drive. Overnight at the Serengeti Serena Lodge on full board basis.
Day 10: Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After breakfast drive to Ngorongoro via Olduvai Gorge, known as the “berth of humanity’ for the remains of prehistoric inhabitants that were unearthed there, arriving in time for lunch, which is served at the lodge. The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight at the Ngorongoro Serena Lodge on full board basis.
Day 11: Ngorongoro to Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, descend into the crater for an extraordinary safari at the bottom of this collapsed volcano, where a variety of habitats shelter an amazing array of wildlife, surrounded by spectacular scenery. A picnic lunch is served in the crater. Afterwards, drive to the Tarangire National Park, arriving at your camp in the late afternoon. Maramboi Tented Camp which is situated on a 25,000 hectare Maasai communal ranch. During the wet season the ‘pans’ (shallow depressions) of this area fill with water, which attracts huge flocks of flamingos and other water birds. The camp is also ideally placed for watching the migration of the wildebeest, which on the tree-less plains can be more easily and more graphically observed than elsewhere. The camp offers just 20 spacious tents, all surrounded by timber decks. Activities possible at an extra cost while at the camp include guided walks, ornithology and cultural interaction with the Datoga and Maasai people, whose communities lie adjacent to the camp. The camp also has its own swimming pool. Overnight at Maramboi Camp on full board basis.
Day 12: On safari in Tarangire
Spend a full day on safari in Tarangire National Park with morning and afternoon game viewing drives. Overnight at Maramboi Camp on full board basis.
Day 13: Arusha – Departure
After breakfast, depart for Arusha where you have lunch. Proceed to the airport afterwards for your home-bound flight.
